Golf Torrequebrada offers a memorable golfing experience on the Costa del Sol, particularly as it approaches its fiftieth anniversary in 2026. The course first opened in 1976 and has built a strong reputation for its distinctive character and thoughtful design. Created by José Gancedo, often recognised for his artistic approach to course architecture, Torrequebrada is known for its varied layout. Every hole presents something different, encouraging players to think carefully about each shot and enjoy a round that blends strategy with creativity.
The natural surroundings play a major part in the appeal of Golf Torrequebrada. The fairways are framed by an impressive collection of trees, along with lakes and well‑placed bunkers, which create a peaceful and attractive setting. Views of both the Mediterranean Sea and the nearby mountains add to the atmosphere and make the course particularly enjoyable for visiting golfers.
Torrequebrada has a long history of hosting important tournaments. It welcomed the Spanish Open in 1979, where Dale Hayes took the title, and the event attracted several well‑known players from across Europe and beyond. Earlier competitions, including the Spanish Under‑25 Championship won by Severiano Ballesteros, helped establish the course’s reputation. For many years, Torrequebrada also founded and hosted the Spanish Interclub Junior Championship, an event that brought through young golfers who would later become familiar names on the professional circuit.
The course is situated in Benalmádena, a convenient location for holidaymakers. It is around twenty minutes from Málaga Airport and close to beaches, the marina and a wide choice of hotels and leisure facilities. The clubhouse provides a welcoming base with views across the course and out to sea. Facilities include a Pro Shop, changing rooms, a terrace, a bar and restaurant and spaces suitable for meetings.
