Els Club in Algarve
The Els Club Vilamoura was designed and constructed by Arnold Palmer Design and has long been recognised as one of Portugal’s premier championship venues. Host to the Portugal Masters since 2007 and the PGA World Cup in 2005, it is a course that serious golfers visiting Vilamoura should not miss. Great care was taken during its creation to preserve the natural habitat of marshes, lakes and mature carob, olive and almond trees, giving the course a distinctive and scenic character.
In December 2023, the course began an extensive redesign led by Ernie Els, transforming the former Victoria layout into Europe’s first Els Club. The full rebuild was completed in 2025, elevating the course to a new standard while retaining the natural beauty and strategic elements that made it famous.
As befitting a true championship layout, the Els Club stretches to 7,270 yards from the back tees, with undulating fairways, cleverly positioned bunkers and water hazards that challenge even the most experienced players. With five or six tee positions on every hole, the course remains enjoyable and accessible for average handicappers, offering a rewarding round for golfers of all abilities.
