Palacio Estoril Hotel

Hotel Information

The magnificent five star Hotel Palacio Estoril is set in its own beautiful gardens in the centre of Estoril, and with outstanding views over the town and the bay of Cascais. The exciting city of Lisbon can be reached by the frequent train service in only 20 minutes.

The hotel was built in the 1930's, and despite being regularly upgraded over the years, it still retains the grandeur and elegance of that period. Service is the keyword here, and the staff are renowned for their efficiency and friendly manner. The bedrooms are luxurious and modern, but still have that wonderful traditional feel.

During the Second World War, Portugal remained a neutral country, and as a result, many exiled European royals took up residency in the hotel. The Palacio also played host to intelligence officers of both Britain and Germany, and it is said that in the evening, both sets of spies fraternised and drank together in the hotel's bar. Indeed, the hotel was used as a location in the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

The Palacio is surrounded by a wide variety of attractions, including the famous Estoril Casino, as well as several art galleries, museums and a racetrack. The splendid golden beach and the attractive promenade are only a few minutes stroll away , and the bustling town of Cascais is only five minutes away, and has many bars and restarants to complement the plentiful supply on your own doorstep.
