Phoenix Golf Holidays

For year-round wonderful weather, incredible scenery and sensational golf, Scottsdale and Phoenix are the answer.

Set amid Superstition Mountains and blessed with 330 days of sunshine, the average daytime high for even the months of January, February and March is about 70 F (21oC). Another thing that golfers visiting the Phoenix/Scottsdale area don't have to worry about is a lack of excellent layouts to choose from! This is desert golf supreme just like you’ve seen on TV during the winter months. And almost all offer a number of staggering views of the multi-coloured landscape and the magnificent mountains.

For quite a while now, one of the most popular places to tee it up in the Scottsdale area has been Troon North Golf Club: Monument and Pinnacle are two great courses sitting side-by-side so you can play to your heart’s content without getting in your car between rounds.

Phoenix Golf Breaks

Another of our favourite 36-hole clubs is Grayhawk Golf Club, featuring the Talon and the Tom Fazio-designed Raptor course.  And if you like Palmer and Faldo, play the Wildfire layouts at Desert Ridge…A serious test of golf.  And arguably the prettiest 36 hole club you’ll ever play is We-Ko-Pa…In the language of the native Yavapai Indians, and in reference to the majestic, nearby mountains, the name means "Four Peaks." Golfers who have played it, though, are convinced it means "Won-der-ful." The original Cholla course, designed by Scott Miller, and the brand new Saguaro course, designed by Ben Crenshaw/Bill Coore, are jaw-dropping.

To the east in nearby Fountain Hills, the Golf Club at Eagle Mountain, another Scott Miller gem, offers a great test of golf, impeccable playing conditions, and incredible scenery. Two layouts to the south of Phoenix are Foothills and The Raven at South Mountain. Foothills has wide fairways so should be considered for your “warm up” course.

Another Raven course is the The Raven at Verrado, a brand new John Fought/Tom Lehman layout that's not only a great track but a great value as well. On top of that and among other welcome amenities are two full meals at the on-site Cocina Grille (breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner)!

Golf Breaks Phoenix

As well as the long list of brilliant golf courses, Phoenix and Scottsdale have additional attractions: why not take in a Phoenix Suns basketball game, Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game or Arizona Cardinals football game?  Or be a cowboy or girl for a day and experience the desert “up real close”. And if you're interested in learning what life was like in the "old west," then a visit to the Rawhide Western Town & Steakhouse is in order.  Phoenix/Scottsdale area is home to nearly forty museums and well over 100 art galleries. Additional enjoyable options include the Phoenix Zoo, Desert Botanical Gardens, and Arizona Science Centre.  Plus, not surprisingly, both of these beautiful cities offer superb shopping and a wide variety of casual and fine dining. And when the desert cools with the setting sun, be assured that the nightlife is just beginning to heat up.

Apache Trail Day Tour from Phoenix

Spend the day following the historic Apache Trail on a guided true wilderness adventure. It's a perfect day out in the Sonoran Desert.  The Apache Trail links Apache Junction to Globe by way of Theodore Roosevelt Lake. Winding through the Superstition Mountains and the Tonto National Forest, it a magnificent 40 miles (65 km) of steep, twisting and mostly unpaved roads.

U-Drive Desert Car Tour in the Sonoran Desert

You and your tour guide will drive through some of the finest off road trails, washes, woops and hillsides. This is an exciting off-road/racing styled adventure in the Arizona Sonoran Desert you won't want to miss!

Centrally located near Scottsdale, this is the best fun you can have in the dirt as you follow the desert trails through sandy washes and rocky creek beds, eventually cresting a series of ridge lines. The result is an awesome view of the surrounding Sonoran Desert.  You are in the driver's seat, but your experienced guide will be with you all the way offering advice and instruction for a fun and safe couple of hours in the desert.  The "C2" Desert car is a 2-seat vehicle fitted with a roll cage and seat belts.  Important Note: Each booking must have 2 people

Sunset and City Lights Aerial Tour of Phoenix

Surrounded by mountain ranges, the desert metropolis of Phoenix is a truly stunning sight at sunset, when the city lights start twinkling as the sky goes dark, highlighting the contrast between rugged Arizona mountains and urban splendor. Take an approximate 45-minute flight over Phoenix in either a fixed-wing Cessna Caravan or a Cessna T207 to experience this amazing sight. These high-winged airplanes (meaning the wings are above the windows and not blocking any views) are perfect for flightseeing and picture-taking.

See the Phoenix valley from an incredible point of view, as the sun sets behind

Pontoon Boat or Wakeboat Rental at Lake Pleasant

Spend a hot, sunny Phoenix day on your own boat on Lake Pleasant! Choose either a pontoon boat or a wakeboard boat, and let the fun begin as you cruise around, pulling tubes, kneeboards, water skis or a wakeboard. Or fire up the BBQ (on the pontoon boat) and simply relax with family and friends.

Spending a day on Lake Pleasant is a fantastic way to cool off and enjoy the Arizona sunshine. Lake Pleasant, north of Phoenix, is known for its clear water and awesome Sonoran Desert setting. With a surface area of 10,000 acres (4,045 hectares), the lake has many fingers and coves where you can find glassy water, perfect for skiing and wakeboarding.

Jet Ski Rental at Bartlett Lake or Lake Pleasant

When the temperatures in Phoenix rise, there’s no better way to escape the heat than zooming around a lake on a Jet Ski. On either Lake Pleasant or Bartlett Lake in the Phoenix area, you can rent a Honda AquaTrax personal watercraft and blast through the water at speeds up to 70 mph as you enjoy the beautiful Arizona landscape.

Both lakes offer you the chance to experience Arizona’s beauty. Lake Pleasant, north of Phoenix, is known for its clear water and awesome Sonoran Desert setting. With a surface area of 10,000 acres (4,045 hectares), the lake has many fingers and coves where you can find glassy water, perfect for riding a Jet Ski. Bartlett Lake, part of Tonto National Forest north east of Phoenix, is a reservoir with gently sloping beaches on the west side and mountains that break the wind on the east - this geography makes for great lake weather.
All you need to do is make your own way to the lake, and your Jet Ski will be ready and waiting for you to ride!

Kayak and Canoe Rental at Lake Pleasant

Cool off from the Phoenix heat with a leisurely paddle in either a canoe or kayak on Lake Pleasant. For outdoor enthusiasts and lake-lovers, this is a perfect way to enjoy a day outside and experience the beauty of central Arizona.

A day at a Phoenix-area lake is a great way to beat the Arizona heat, and a canoe or kayak rental will allow you to get out on the water for a relaxing paddle.

Phoenix Nightlife

Martini Ranch

Martini ranch is two clubs in one, and a venue for live concerts too. Whether you prefer Top 40, hits of the 80s, or techno, you'll find a spot at Martini Ranch that suits your style.

Q Lounge, Metrocenter

Q Lounge is adjacent to Bobby Q's, a barbecue restaurant.  Diners at Bobby Q's can go next door to the Q Lounge. This night club has the standard array of beautiful people, but there are also dress down hours, games and contests, and munchies.

Coyote Alley

This is not a glitzy night club like some of the others listed here. It's mostly country, and mostly a bar with entertainment and dancing--DJs and live bands. There aren't many other options for good nightlife in the northwest part of town.

Scottsdale has more eateries and nightlife than you could wish for.  Just ask your Hotel Concierge or taxi or just head to the Old Town.
