10,500 hectares of forest areas covering broad and flat hill ridges characterise the Zselic landscape. The majority of the tiny villages, dating back hundreds of years, were established along the streams at an average 200-250 metre above sea level high hills.  

Thanks to the weather (expect rain but warm weather too) unique forest wildlife and fauna and flora has come into existence. And because of the significant size and quality of the forests, the area is considered a natural treasure. It has been a nature conservation area since 1976.
