Four hours’ drive from Calais and you’re in Napoleon’s favourite town…Fontainebleau. Located in the heart of the largest forest in Western Europe, Fontainebleau boasts a chateau, exceptional countryside, a good choice of hotels, plenty of bars and brasseries and lots of picture-postcard villages and historic towns like Nemours, Moret and Montereau.
And what about the really important bit..The golf?! Designed by Tom Simpson and rated in the World Top 100, it’s a beauty and we can get you on this members course at a cut-price rate including lunch, trolley and unlimited golf. It’s a full-on test of golf with subtle greens, cunning bunkers and views to take your breath away. One of Simpson’s best – and that’s saying something considering he also created Sunningdale, Ballybunion Old and Morfontaine and is deservedly ranked among the finest golf designer.
If you fancy more variety, there’s Chateau d’Augerville, Cely, Belesbat, La Forteresse, Coudray Montceaux and – to the west of Paris and just under an hour away – Golf National, home to the 2018 Ryder Cup.
For hotels, there’s the Victoria and the Napoleon in Fontainebleau, Les Pleaides in Barbizon, Domaine de Belesbat (in the countryside and only available to groups of 20 or more) and Chateau d’Augerville with its own golf course. We’ve got deals at all of hotels.
Weather-wise, the forest creates a micro-climate that’s warm from March to November but the winters are cold but that’s a great excuse for enjoying a fireside dinner in one of the numerous country inns.
So whether you’re the keenest of golfers, fancy a countryside break or want to explore the culture and history of one of France’s richest regions, Fontainebleau ticks all the boxes and more.
For our “Focus on Fontainebleau” campaign, we’re offering a free round of golf and a room upgrade for all holidays booked between now and August 31 for holidays departing in 2012, and don't forget about our Eurotunnel Exclusive Offer! You’ll like the prices and you’ll love the holiday!
